SEASIDE VACATION HOME  - OMAHA Beach, Normandy, France

The landing at Omaha Beach in 1944, June the 6th, was the beginning of the reconstruction of France devastated by years of war. Millions of families were left without a house. The French government decided to create temporary cities. 

In 1946, thousands of shacks are then imported from Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Canada, United States. These huts have allowed generations of Normans to live, post-war to the present day in modern and comfortable homes. 

This house comes from FINLAND (manufacturer FINN HUS, ranked in the General Inventory of French Cultural Heritage). Its history from 1946 to 1963 remains uncertain (housing for the dismantling of the Mulberry artificial harbor). It was located on the site of Omaha Beach in 1963 on a plot of 2000m SEASIDE

It was completely renovated in 2014 on the occasion of the 70th anniversary celebrations of the landing DDAY.

You can now rent the FINN HUS !

It is available for 6 peopleS MAXIMUM : 
- 1 room for 2 peoples (1 bed 2 places 160cm) 
- 1 room for 4 peoples(4 adult beds) + 1 baby cot 
- A bathroom (hydro-massage shower, washbasin, washing machine, toilet) 
- A kitchen (oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge) with panoramic sea views 
- Living room (2 leather sofas, digital TV) with panoramic sea views 
- A large wooden terrace facing south (sunbathing, awning) 
- A vast landscaped grounds of 2000 m² (swing, swing, cabin)

FinnHus is classified as "the Général Inventoty of French Heritage" since 2000.
Omaha Beach is the most visited tourist site in France aflter Paris (source Ministry of Tourism).
Direct beach access. Shops on foot. Animals welcom.
 

You will find within 100km : Bayeux, Caen, Ouistreham, Saint Laurent sur mer, Colleville sur mer, Arromanches, Bénouville, Saint Mère l'Eglise, Deauville, Cherbourg, Le Mont Saint Michel, Jersey

JESSIE (Paris) : Very enjoyable, delightful hosts and welcoming. Lovely view of the house and very clean, great garden!

WENDY (UK) : This is a perfect location, a fantastic place to stay. Everything you need in a lovely house. The beach is gorgeous and so big it never feels busy. The hosts are excellent friendly and extremely helpful. Our trip was interrupted due to my husband falling ill and the hosts went out of their way to help me.

RUBEN (Netherlands) : A comfortable house with a great view, at an historic site. We had a wonderful time and our two kids enjoyed the beach a lot. Such luxury to be able to walk home for a cold drink and open it on the beach! The owners were very friendly and helpful.

TINA (Netherlands) : Location, location, location! That is what FinnHus is all about. Right across the street from Omaha beach, it's views are just breath-taking. A great location to tour Normandy and D-Day museums and memorials. It is a lovely property.  The pictures do not do the property justice. Everything is also spotless clean. I would recommend this property to others! And I will.  

ERIN (USA) : Wonderful location right across from Omaha Beach. Cute house that's well-equipped with everything you will need for your stay (option to rent bed linens). Great place to stay with kids - there are several swing sets, a large fenced in yard and a playhouse. Deck to lounge in the sun or have breakfast overlooking the flowering hillsides. Centrally located, parking on site. 4 stars! Highly recommended!

DAVID (Ireland) ; Driving along the coast I saw the Finnish flag flying in the distance andknew that I had arrived. I met Emmanuel at the Finnhus and he showed me where everything was and how it worked and could not have been more welcoming.

MARK (Netherlands) : We found the house as described in the ad. Everything was clearly communicated by the owner. The house was clean upon arrival. The view is great, the house is child friendly, the surroundings quiet. 
We had a good time. When in Normandy, this is definitely a home to stay again.
